PIN flame retardant enables A-grade fire safety for building interiors with large volume, highly adaptable polymer (polypropylene). The non-halogenated (PIN) flame retardant used by Lotte Chemicals is non-toxic (no GHS toxicity label) and the PIN FR polypropylene compound is recyclable. ASTME E84 Class-A was achieved in fire testing, that is limited flame spread and smoke indeed, meaning that a fire starting is unlikely to spread and the smoke emission is reduced. The new compound will be used in building interior finishes, in particular in North America and the Middle East (where ASTME is the reference test method) and also in applications such as automobile and home electrical equipment.
