EU public consultation now extended to 30th June: phosphorus not in proposed SRM list despite being critical for fire safety. The proposed EU Critical Raw Materials Regulation retains “Phosphorus” and “Phosphate Rock” on the list of Critical Raw Materials, but not on the list of “Strategic Raw Materials”, eligible for EU funding, joint projects and other policy tools. The essential role of elemental phosphorus P4 (termed “Phosphorus”) for fire safety (necessary for many P-based flame retardants) is mentioned only for data centres, but ignored for batteries, renewable energy, other electronics applications, aerospace ..
